This isn't exactly how I've pictured it to be,
But somehow I've gotten you to fall for me.
Why you would and how you did, I'll never quite understand,
But I still get the giddiness whenever you hold my hand.
I forgot what it felt like, to have all these butterflies.
They never go away, even as the time passes us by.
Maybe it was quick, but it feels like I know you.
I really do hope you feel the same as I do.
Worry doesn't have a spot in my mind anymore,
I'm almost certain you won't go, almost sure.
I can't describe the joy I feel
Just knowing this is something, knowing it's real.
It may be cheesy, and that's fine with me,
But I can't help but feel we were meant to be.
Whenever I see you, my heart skips a beat,
Not to mention kissing you is a real treat.
Though we are far apart most of the time,
I'm still satisfied in knowing that you're mine.
We've made it through waters deep and shallow,
And it's always our love that follows.
The future holds something special for you and me,
But for now I enjoy our present, so I'll wait and see.
I cherish each moment we spend together,
Oh how I wish they would last forever.
Each day I can't wait just to talk to you,
And I just love to hear what you're up to.
Besides love and happiness, we have lots of days,
And I'll spend each one of them loving you in our own special way.

A Little Bit of Allison: I don't have regrets, only lessons.
How many times have we all heard things about our pasts? Different quotes, speeches, and various articles about our past and how it affects us are all over the place. Well, here's my input on the matter.
Each of us has some sort of past. Whether it be decisions we've made or promises we didn't keep, there's something. Everyone has a few skeletons in their closet, some may have more than others, but everyone nonetheless. Even though I try not to be too revealing on this blog, this is one of those topics that it's challenging not to be. So, sorry about that. Anyways, I used to beat myself up about my own past. Different things I did and promises I broke that I had made to myself made me feel worthless and shameful. I once had a friend tell me that shame was the most destructive emotion, which I've come to realize is true. I think a lot of things I did brought me shame, and I saw in my own life how that shame turned into destruction. Through different actions and various decisions, I had gotten myself into quite the rut.
For a while, I wished I wasn't there. I wished my life was different and that things had panned out differently. I felt so stuck and burdened, I just didn't want to do it anymore. I remember feeling so stuck and feeling like there just wasn't any way my life could get better. As time passed, nothing really changed. It felt like a very long time that I was in this phase, and let me be the first to tell you I didn't like it.
Finally I reached a point where I could move on. I didn't feel stuck anymore and I felt like I could finally progress in my life. Well, it felt great, but I still felt bad about this past of mine. Every now and then I would wish it never happened. I would think of how good my life could have been if only I hadn't done this or that. It wasn't until recently I finally came to terms with everything and decided that even if someone offered me the opportunity, I wouldn't change it for the world. All the things that have happened in my life have gotten me where I am today, and I'm glad about that. Yes, there were hard times, but it made me stronger. So, hence the title, I now feel like I don't have regrets, only lessons. Each part of my bitter past taught me a lesson, one way or another.
I feel like everyone can come to this point with their past. Some already have, and others are working on it. Whatever stage you're at, I just want to say you're great...no matter what skeletons lurk in your closet.
Thank you for reading, and I hope it helped in some way!

Block
So I sat down to write a poem, and seriously couldn't think of anything. I'm sorry. This is becoming a problem. I decided to instead write about...man I can't even think of something for that! I have officially approached a block. Until then, I'm not sure I can write more than a few sentences. I'm sorry friends! I will definitely try to think of something so that this blog can still seem intriguing enough to read. Maybe at my job where I have a lot of down time, I can think of something for you. Cross your fingers!

A Little Bit of Allison: Writing
As we all know, I am quite the fan of writing. But let me tell you folks, it is not the easiest thing. Writing poetry can be challenging, but also writing a book is even harder. I don't know why, you'd think someone who talks as much as I do would be able to fill a series. But no. So I've been trying but boy is it hard.
Besides the difficulty, I've always liked writing because I have found it helps me express myself. For me, writing is definitely a form of therapy. My favorite type of writing to write is journal entries. I love writing in my journal where I know I can just write free, if you will. I don't have to worry about rhyming, making a story flow, or even if anyone will read it. Plus, it's just writing out what I would tell someone about my life that day, week, or month.
You would think this post would be longer, being that it is about writing, but unfortunately I have now run out of things to write about. See?! It's hard.
Until next time.

Blog Construction
So I decided I don't like writing explanations on my poems. I know, I'm lame, I only did it once and already changed my mind. That's why this post is entitled "Blog Construction" because that's the state my blog is in right now. It is under construction. I know I want to continue with the poems and the little bits of me, but I feel like there should be more. So, for the next few weeks or months or however often I decide to post, I'll be trying out different things. With that being said, please don't mind the constant change. You may see one type of post one week and then never see it again. If I stumble upon something I like, then it will remain on the blog. There we have it. Blog under construction...watch for random posts.

Summer Breeze
I think every person who writes poetry writes one of these,
A poem about the summer breeze.
But how could you not? It's done with such ease.
There's something about the warm sun on your face,
And then the rush of cool air, that feeling that none other can replace.
The smell of the flowers that you can almost taste.
Sometimes I like to just close my eyes and breathe it in,
The fresh summer air surrounding my skin.
Summer brings me happiness time and time again.
And when the winter comes, I have something to look forward to,
That summer breeze that I love, oh I love it, I do.

Explained: Music Box
Being that I constantly change my mind about how this blog is set up, I have decided that with each poem I write, I will then do an "Explained" version of it. Basically these posts will just be (obviously) explanations of the poem and my thoughts about it. We'll see how this works.
Music Box was the first poem I wrote after taking my long break of writing poems. My mom was actually playing the piano while I wrote it and her playing definitely inspired this. I thought about how music boxes tend to evoke some sort of feeling within us, and often times that can be a heart breaking feeling. Have you ever noticed that you can take pretty much any tune and if it's played by those music box notes, it can be really sad? Or it can put you to sleep--whichever. Anyways, so I thought about how there are some music box tunes that can just be so sad, yet no one ever said they had to be. It could just be a tune that there aren't any words to, but you feel sad nonetheless. So with all these thoughts combined came this poem. I wouldn't say it's my favorite poem I've written, but I do love the last two lines. That definitely wrapped up the poem well for me.
